Here's how we did it:

Nasty hump and sloppy patch show where a newer addition on the right joined the old house on the left.

We toothed in the two walls with blocks.

We toothed in the two walls with blocks. The holes in the blocks show the blocks were never filled in. We filled in the blocks the best we could with super mortar.

Walls were toothed in with 3 blocks

Walls were toothed in with 3 blocks. Hopefully, this will tie them together permanently.

terracotta blocks

Badly deteriorated terracotta blocks were packed in with a lot of flex con in the mortar for strength. Cinder blocks, or CMU as they call them today, came out about 1920. Terracotta was still used in Federal government buildings into the 1930's.
