Replacing rotted masonite siding with color stucco
in Rockville, Maryland
Here's how we did it:
Birds built nests in rotted masonite. Just like EIFS, birds like building nests in weak, flimsy material.
Roof was covered with tar paper to prevent mortar splatters and skylights were covered with styrofoam. Another good use for styrofoam. I would never put foam on the wall on somebody's house.
Two layers of tar paper, self furring metal lath and we are scratching on mortar.
Brown coat.
Color cement stucco creates an old world look.
Spanish texture adds depth and movement.
We put on a new counter flashing before the stucco as a matter of routine.
We recoat the chimney caps also as a matter of routine.
