Pebble dash kings replace stucco in Takoma Park
We replaced most of the pebble dash stucco on this pre 1920 bungalow.
We did most of the house next door

Terra cotta blocks were used before 1920, when concrete blocks (CMU, cinder blocks) were invented.
We stripped the stucco down to the block.

Old lime and sand stucco removed, Two layers of tar paper and self-furring metal lath put on.

A decorative band is used to hide the joint between old and new.

Cool boat ceiling and tornado in Washington, DC
3/4" chennel iron is bent for the ceiling.
Iron hooks tie the ceiling into the rectangle opening.
Metal lath is tied on with tie wire.
Ceiling is plastered the same day with molding plaster and lime.

Metal lath and molding plaster and lime allow for same day completion
Plaster weld is used to bond plaster to old terra cotta blocks.

Stucco is cut off the brick for new flashing
The rest of the old stucco is re-coated
We added a drip band at the top
The band extends the life of the chimney
The crown is redone and coins are stuck in the mortar
