Project had been
abandoned for a long time before we got here. Old tarpaper was torn off and replaced. |
Flat sheet metal flashing was nailed over the top window flange. This prevents water from running in between flange and wall. Later, of course, flashing is covered with tar paper and lath. |
People ask me why don't I get a mortar mixer? What for? I have two!. |
Scratch coat is wet down with a hose before brown coat. |
Brown coat is straightened with a six foot rod. Wall is an honest 3/4" thick, not like the thin crap you see on new houses. |
Top of concrete steps are coated using an acrylic admixture in the mortar. |
Bonding coat is roughed up using a rubber float. Come back and see it finished. |
Chimney is finished first. Color on chimney is #820, "Silverado" from La Habra stucco. Rest of the house will be #81, "Oatmeal". |
