Dormers finished with a REAL colored portland cement finish |
Old plaster bullnoses are restored and duplicated throughout the house. These form a triangle where the bullnose meets the straight part on the arris (outside corner). |
First I made a metal mold. |
A straight wood strip is nailed to the wall. Bullnose is formed by filling in with molding plaster and lime and running the mold up the strip. |
Next, a wood strip is nailed to the arris (outside corner) and one side is filled. |
After mortar sets up, strips are removed and one side of the triangle is cut in. | The other side is filled and the rough triangle shape is cut into the mortar. |
After the chimneys are white coated, cat faces (little voids) on the bullnoses are filled with a putty knife. |
Mynor trowels an interesting old curved plaster wall.
We're finished filling and coating the old walls around the perimeter of the house. We're plastering the whole house. |
