EIFS mesh and finish Metal corner beads were already rusted
EIFS mesh and finish torn off. Under the mesh, the basecoat was wet. Synthetic stucco finish was wet underneath and delaminating, even though this installation was less than 20 years old. Metal corner beads were already rusted and rotted away. Note how we do our outside corners:
Wood strips are nailed on and the filled.
When the mortar sets overnight, the strips are pulled off and voila!, a straight corner.
This is how this was done in the 1920's and
how we do it now.
acrylic bonding admixture white portland and sand, colored
Wood strips filled with cement mortar, mixed with a generous dose of an acrylic bonding admixture. The admixture assures a permanent installation. Finish is white portland and sand, colored with Pacific sand from La Habra Stucco.
