Finished job, showing zero clean-up.
First a layer of 4 mil plastic is put down and taped together in case of leaks. Plastic is covered with masonite, also taped together. Work is done on new soft stone floors without a scratch or single glob of mortar on the floor. |
Brown coat is rodded off. Brown coat must be dead straight for the blocks to look right |
Straight lumber is used to score grooves in brown coat. We used a secret trick to slow the set of the brown coat, without weakening the mortar. If you want to know the trick, e-mail me. | White finish coat is troweled, and grooves are scored in the finish. |
Real cut stones ? Could have fooled you. | What is "burnishing" ? Burnishing is when cement plaster or plaster with sand in the finish is troweled hard, allowing the trowel to mark off dark. Different effects can be created, such as imitating veins in a stone. |
