EIFS replaced with stucco
in Ashburn, Virginia
A few notes about this project :
Weep holes are drilled in plaster stop.
A gap is left between our weep stop and the flashing. Photo shows back side of door trim and bricks sealed with protecto wrap.
Wall is covered with tarpaper and self furring metal lath.
Rot under the window is caused by no flashing over the window. EIFS rots wood anyway.
Wall is filled out an honest 3/4 inch and rodded off.
Hole is drilled in the back of the pre cast keystone to hang on the wall. REAL keystones sure look better than a piece of styrofoam.
Window surrounds are REAL cement and REAL sand.
Smart boy's arch marking tool.
Pencil follows arch on window.
Arches are formed with correx and foam and filled with white portland and sand.
Straight surrounds are fomed with EIFS type foam and filled. One good use for foam.
Don't worry, foam is temporary.
Keystones taped off and arches finished over garage doors.
Door surrounds formed and filled.
EIFS foam is extremely flammable. Who would want to build a house with EIFS on it?
Finished house.
