Ornamental plaster restored
in Washington, DC
home of the World Series Champions
A few notes about this project :

Floors are covered with a layer of plastic, a layer of Correx plastic sheets ,and a layer of drop clothes. Everything is taped together to prevent leaks.

One person holds a shop vac and the other cuts with a diamond blade. Not a speck of dust anywhere. Plus, we are inside a zip wall dust tent.

Rusted metal lath replaced. Note the medallion and other plaster separating.

Water damage is chiseled off next to molding
I tried using liquid nails to stick the ceiling up and it didn't work. Next, I used a little molding plaster and ceiling is solid as a rock.

I squared up a piece of the molding using a miter saw.

Template is made in a vise by filing a little at a time.

Template is mounted on a wood backup and a "sled".

One by two guide strip is put on with screws. Area of the molding is painted with plaster weld.

Molding is filled with molding plaster and lime and run with the sled.

Guide strip removed, holes and voids filled in..

A view of the ornamental plaster filigree on the ceiling, as well as the cast dentil crown.

Sloppy patch is torn off and re done
