All the flashing is removed from the addition, including over the windows, doors, and every horizontal and diagonal tudor board. |
New flashing is put on right.Note the flashing is angled down away from the house.. |
The new flashing is sealed to the substrate with tape. |
For some reason there is a big ugly gob of caulk around every panel. |
The caulking is cut off of every panel with a sharp knife.
We measured our mix of flex con and water half and half.
The color was mixed in the flex con mix in a garbage can. |

Life under the big tent, like they say in the circus. Heaters allow work to proceed in sub freezing temperatures.
The tent puffs out when filled with hot air. |
The color finish coat is rubbed with a rubber float.
The finish matches the addition Mr. Mason did years ago.

I have to say something about backward flashing. Maybe the people that did this will read what I have to say and stop doing it.
This flashing is angled back toward the house, forming a water trough. This is on the hardy siding gable on the addition we are working on.
Where does the water go ? The water runs off the higher trough to the lower trough and into the gap in between. This water funnel is over the stucco and directly over a window.
This isn't home improvement, this is home destruction.
