Mark took a picture of the reflection of the mountains in the window.
We used our bonding basecoat on the old finish coat. The finish was real cement that had never been painted.
We used flex-con, and acrylic bonding admixture, in the mortar.
Some of the cast concrete sills were in bad shape. We also had sills on the new addition.
The new sills were formed with styrofoam and filled in. Note the string line used to make the top corner.
We used Rapid set mortar mix for a basecoat for the sills.
The finish coat for the sills had a contrasting color mixed in the mortar.
A view of the new patio walls. We stuccoed the round columns. They will be used to support a pergola.
A view of the finished back.
For the finish coat, we used white portland cement and Q-Rok from US Silica. Our formula is half number one, or fine, and
half number two, or medium.
We only use Lehigh white portland for our finish.
Color is "Hinoki" from Sherwin-Williams.
We are less than two miles from Old Rag mountain, one of the best known mountains in Virginia. No, Walton mountain doesn't
exist.
