Natural color stucco addition in Middleburg, Virginia
Here's a video tour:
Flagstone patio was covered with plastic and correx, corrugated plastic sheets. When the wall is finished the correx is pulled out leaving a gap for drainage.
Counter flashing was put on the roof first. This way the stucco overlaps the flashing and we don't have to walk on the new aluminum roof. Later, the roof panels are slid under the counter flashing. We drilled holes in the plaster stop for weeps. Note the gap
between the stop and the counter flashing. More details on how this is done here:.....
The brown coat is an honest 3/4" thick.
We wet the brown coat down twice a day. This makes a huge difference in the strength of the finished wall, particularly in the summertime.
The finish coat is Lehigh white portland, white lime and Roman play sand. Roman sand has a great color, and is dried in the factory. Dry sand splotches less than wet sand.
Finish coat is rubbed down with a rubber float.
A close up of the texture. We are going for an old Middleburg look.
