Sidewalk roughed up by chipping with an electric chipping hammer. Most of the flaky white coating is removed. | A bonding coat is applied using acrylic additives in the
mortar. The
expansion grooves are filled in and the surface roughed
up by rubbing with a rubber float. This is similar to the process used in plastering swimming pools, but stronger yet. |
Design is made by applying masking tape.
Finish coat is applied. When the finish sets, the taped is peeled off, leaving design. |
I finished a little at a time, pulling the tape as I
went. The finish is roughed up with a rubber float for good traction. Finish is white portland cement and sand colored with a little "meadowbrook" from La Habra stucco. |
Squares are colored with a blueish grey. | This is my artistic signature on this project. |
