A close up of the original house. Landis e-mailed me this photo last summer to ask if we could match the finish. |
A close up of our finish shows it matches "on the money" |
The finish coat is white portland cement and white sand dashed on with a dash brush. The finish is applied in two steps, first a scratch coat troweled on the whole wall, then the wall dashed with a brush. This project deserved it's own page.more. |
TOP LEFT: A close up of the existing. TOP RIGHT: New chimney we just finished. I had to break out the chimney cam again. A very heavy skip trowel texture is duplicated, again "on the money". Finish is white portland cement and yellow sand. This project deserved it's own page.more here... |
House from last update finished. Finish is REAL portland cement and REAL sand. Color is Blue Grey, quoins and window surrounds are Dove Grey from La Habra Stucco This project deserved it's own page. more here |
Finished addition from last update.
TOP LEFT: A close up of the existing house showing coarse sand and fine gravel. TOP RIGHT: Finish is duplicated by allowing mortar to set and washing with a hose. Nozzle is set on "mist". You may have seen this finish here. This time we used white portland instead of grey, and washing with a hose instead of a brush. Window sills were excellent, providing good water run off. Also all the horizontal tudor members were flashed before we got here. |
