House built to look like a 1960's gas station
in Great Cacapon, West Virginia
Gas station house.
Marion poses with Salvador, showing off his new stucco.
"FILL 'ER UP, BUB !
"CHECK A ROO !"
Aluminum reveals and self-furring metal lath are screwed to the ICF (Insulated Concrete forms).
A cut away of an ICF block shows the plastic studs every 12" o.c.
Don't laugh, this is a strong, secure attachment.
We used a synthetic finish, "TUSCAN STUCCO" from La Habra Stucco.
Close up of the finish shows burnishing and a steel trowel look.
Stucco shower
in Great Cacapon, West Virginia
Outdoor shower is finished with White Portland cement, lime, and white sand.
This shower at the gas station house deserved it's own page.
Stucco by the competition replaced
in Washington, DC
Framing was rotting. No flashing over wood, stucco was out past the fascia board, poorly installed and poorly made windows, and Tyvek house wrap.
Mortar dissolves Tyvek. Dupont says don't use Tyvek for one coat or three coat stucco.
Pebble dash kings still rockin'
in Paeonian Springs, Virginia
Old stucco was more patches than original.
1930's stucco is stripped off. Windows are covered with correx, a plastic sheet material.
Splatter suit is made from a contractor bag.
Just like the 1930's again.
