Historic stucco replaced
circa 1830 house
Harper's Ferry, West Virginia

Revisiting this interesting job from 2017. I only published a few little pictures back then. This project deserves it's own page.

Stucco scored to look like block.

Our finish coat was scored to look like limestone block. The finish coat is white portland and lime and coarse sand. The finish was floated real rough, probably like the original, before scoring.

Old lime and Shenandoah River sand.

The old lime and sand mortar. The sand (apparently) came from the nearby Shenandoah River. Shenandoah River sand has a nice blond color, There were limestone kilns at the bottom of the hill by the river in the late 1700's and early 1800's.
